Privacy Policy

The short version
- We don't collect any of your personal information. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking.
- Your Apple Music data moves only between your device and Apple. It never passes through a server of ours — we don't have one.
- To show lyrics, the app sends the current song's title, artist, album name and duration to the public lyrics database LRCLIB, with nothing that identifies you.
This Privacy Policy covers the Covera app for Mac, iPhone and iPad (the "App") and this website. The App is independently developed and operated by an individual developer ("we", "us").
1. What we don't collect
The App doesn't ask you to create or sign in to any account of ours, and it contains no third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising or marketing tools. As a result, we do not collect, store or sell any of the following:
- Your name, email, phone number or Apple Account details;
- Your listening history, library, playlists or loved songs;
- Device identifiers, the advertising identifier (IDFA), location, contacts or usage data.
In App Store "App Privacy" terms, the App is "Data Not Collected".
2. Apple Music data the App reads
The App is a player built on Apple's official MusicKit framework. The first time you use it, the system asks whether to allow the App to access "Media & Apple Music". If you allow it, the App requests the following directly from Apple, on your device, to display and play it:
- Your For You playlists and albums;
- Your library (songs, albums, playlists) and recently played items;
- Song details, artwork and the artwork colors Apple provides.
When you tap Love, the App writes that back to your Apple Music (marking the song as loved and, where possible, adding it to your library). All of these requests go straight from your device to Apple; we can't see them and we don't keep them. For how Apple handles this data, see the Apple Privacy Policy.
3. Requests sent to third parties
The App only contacts the two services below, and only when needed:

Nothing sent to LRCLIB includes your Apple Account, device identifiers or anything else that identifies you. As with any network request, the receiving server can technically see your IP address. LRCLIB is responsible for its own data handling; see lrclib.net.
4. Data stored on your device
To make the App work well, the following is kept only on your own device and never uploaded anywhere:
- Interface settings, such as whether the mini player stays on top or whether autoplay is on;
- A cache of your latest recommendations, so playback starts faster next time or continues when the network is unstable;
- Temporary caches the system creates for network requests (such as artwork images).
Deleting the App deletes all of this data.
5. System permissions
- Media & Apple Music (required): used to read recommendations and your library and to play music. Without it, the App's main features don't work.
- Photos, add-only (iPhone / iPad, optional): used only when you choose Save Artwork, to add the current cover to your photo library. The App cannot read your existing photos.
- Saving files (Mac, optional): when you save artwork, you pick the location in a system dialog, and the App writes only that one file.
- Clipboard: written only when you choose Copy Song Link, with that song's Apple Music link. The App never reads your clipboard.
6. Tracking and advertising
The App does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not use the advertising identifier and shares nothing with data brokers, so it never asks for permission to track.
7. Children
The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region).
8. Your choices
- Revoke Apple Music access: on iPhone / iPad go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music; on Mac go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music, and turn off Covera.
- Revoke Photos access: Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
- Delete local data: delete the App to remove everything it stored on your device.
- Your Apple Music data (library, loves, etc.) is managed by Apple and can be viewed or deleted in the Music app or your Apple Account settings.
Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to look up, correct, export or delete on your behalf. You're always welcome to contact us with questions.
9. This website
This website is a set of static pages. It has no accounts, sets no cookies and loads no analytics or advertising code. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which may briefly process access logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability under its privacy policy. The only thing the site remembers, locally in your browser, is the language you chose.
10. Changes to this policy
If the way the App handles data changes (for example, a new feature needs to contact a new service), we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date first. For significant changes we'll also mention it in the App's release notes.
